The Lake Taupo region is the adventure playground of the North Island.

Taupo has heaps of options for cycling and has been recognised as a world class riding destination by the International Mountain Biking Association. Whether you are a roadie, a mountain biker, a casual rider or just want to take the kids out for a ride, Taupo has stacks of opportunities for you to get on your bike.

Many of the tracks follow beautiful bush trails, catching glimpses of the lake, rivers and mountains. There are many biking and cycling options for all ranges of fitness, experience and budgets.

BikeTaupo.co.nz is the regional group that provides lots of information for this area. There is also a MTB club.
