Brasov ( Kronstadt )

Brașov is located in the central part of the country, about 166 km north of Bucharest. It is surrounded by the Southern Carpathians and is part of the Transylvania region.

The ski villages of Poiana Braşov and Sinaia – both of which boast great bike paths and a lively local biking scene, cable cars and tracks down the ski slopes. 

Poiana Braşov is surrounded by four mountains: Postăvaru (1,799 m), Piatra Craiului 2,238 meters, Bucegi (2,505 m) and Piatra Mare (1,848 m).

Romania is slowly but steadily finding its identity as a mountain biking destination. Romaina is mostly hills and mountains with plenty of dirt roads, mountain tracks, trails that go through amazing forests and pastures all the way up to two thousands meters. The climate is mild, with long and warm autumns that provide good cycling conditions till November. Still, things are far from perfect. There isn’t a network of “official” mountain biking tracks with proper signaling as in the Alps. No printed mountain biking guides or maps about Romania are available for the self organized tourists. Go with the local guides or companies.
